Optical camouflage what are several ways?
When the light passes through the optical fiber
Everyone has a dream of stealth, of course, many people are also exploring the possibility of optical camouflage. The author thinks that optical camouflage can indeed exist for different combat needs.
optical fiber
When the light passes through the optical fiber, it will be totally reflected. No matter how the middle fiber is wound, the light at one end can be transmitted to the other end. One of the principles of optical camouflage is to transmit the light behind to the front, so it is transparent from the outside. The advantage of optical fiber is that the author can make the optical fiber bypass the building or the human body, so the objects covered in it will be "invisible".
But the effect of fiber is not very good. There are two reasons. It requires a light source behind it, and the light source is weakened, and the invisible effect is only one-way: that is, positive invisible. In addition, optical fibers are not flexible enough to be used in personal devices. But there is no denying that fiber optics is a good idea.
Display Camera
This is an optical camouflage method that came into contact earlier. It gives you a display screen on the front and a camera on the back to project the scene on the front. The research team of Keio University in Japan developed "optical camouflage" and successfully made the rear seat of Toyota Prius transparent. The whole rear seat is the screen, and the rear lens is used to collect images and put them on the rear seat screen. It looks like the rear seat is transparent.
This shows that this method works on motor vehicles and aircraft. The secret plan "Raptor" of the US Area 51 mentioned by the author before has also been rumored that the aircraft developed by it can be invisible. I believe this technology can be achieved, but the practicality may not be high.
So can you use this method on personal stealth equipment? Not at present, but it may be solved in the future. Smaller optical elements in the world, only three molecules thick, are very soft and can be implanted in large areas of clothing. In the future, clothing can change color, and clothing can also be used as a display screen.
carbon nanotube
A group of researchers at the University of Texas used carbon nanotubes to accomplish cloaking, according to a report in the prestigious academic journal Physical Society.
Carbon nanotubes produce high temperatures that make the medium around the nanotubes dense and uneven, thus bending the fiber passing from the side: the principle is similar to a mirage. Of course, the refractive index of the air caused by the mirage is not very high, so when I see the mirage, it is a very far view. If you want to use it as optical camouflage, the heat energy it generates is very high, and it produces a large medium density difference within a distance. Carbon nanotubes are flexible but expensive.
quantum stealth camouflage material
Developed by the Canadian company Hyperstealth Biotechnology, they keep the contents of their technology secret, but claim that the military has approached them for cooperation. The company says the material bends light, both visible and infrared, so objects covered by the material cannot be detected. For reasons of confidentiality, the company refuses to provide the application effect of the actual sample to the outside, and currently only provides a simulation effect demonstration on its official website.
